Tried to get close to the dashboard of the real car 

Some pre-work done for the seats. Thanks to Paul from ISM they look good with the microbaloons  

 

Engine set from USCP arrived today. Excited to work on it!! 

I guess the Cockpit is done 

 

Really hard to match the weird color and pattern of the seats, but I‘m ok how it turned out 

 

For the actual car I’m using tires with a tread from an old Tamiya Peugeot 205 kit. But I have only 4 tires, hence I had to use the slick tire for the spare wheel 

 

Quick pit stop to change to the right rims 😉 

Some weathering done on the undercarriage  

 

Opened the hood to fit the USCP engine into the car. Luckily the USCP kit is coming with a new hood 

Due to the nice weather only small progress on weathering the exhaust etc.

In addition cleaning and painting the engine parts is taking quite some time 

 

 

Progress made and Decals applied. Of course it has to be the ´86 Rallye Monte Carlo car of Walter Röhrl. 

 

I decided to build the car running at the late stages of the Rallye. SS26 and onwards. This was already towards the south but the streets were a mix of rest snow and this typical winter dirt and mud on the cars. 

Watching videos from the Rallye and seeing the mechanics working under the car, the way I weathered the undercarriage is almost still too clean 

 

Still a long way to go….. 

But coming together nicely  

Let’s see if I connect everything correctly and the engine is starting in the end 🙂 

Engine done!!! Fits into the chassis and looking good. 

 

 

 

Next is weathering as an engine can‘t be that clean. And for sure not in a Rallye car. As a comparison, a picture of the real engine. 

Engine looks way more realistic than before with the clean white 

 

 

Weathering done on the rims and tires to replicate the typical dark winter dirt 

 

In order to replicate Walter‘s car at Monte Carlo, there are a few inconsistencies and errors in the instructions.
Walter‘s car had only 2 black meshes in the front, and not white ones like in the instructions  

The flaps on the fenders had 2 different colors on the real car. The right flap was black 

The left one though was white. No idea why it was like this though 

Röhrl‘s car didn’t have the yellow strip on the back of the rear spoiler. It’s wrong in the instructions. At least for the Monte Carlo car. 

The side of the rear spoiler was white on silver and not silver on white or totally white. Also wrong in the instructions.

Next is to weather the car. Let’s see how it turns out
